Game time -
Aargh! I averaged 11 miles off on 5 states.
I still think I did pretty good for those tiny states in the east with no boundary lines to fit them in. I mean... what's 11 miles? (Just a trip to the store for some of us.)
Now I've got to try again.
I didn't do as badly as I thought I would...The East is a no brainer for me...it's those fly over states that get me...
90% Avg miss 22mi, but it was my second try. First time was 76%, 60mi avg miss.
Wow, 96%, 9 mile average.
I took a couple guesses that panned out well. Wyoming was the big one.
That was fun. Thanks.
First try 30 mile average
5th try 94% 5 miles
96% 5 miles 295 seconds ..... no more
96% 2miles 222 secs
I congratulate you Slugomist. However, since I have played the game several times, I submit the following. A person's score will go up or down with repeated play due mainly to chance, not skill, or knowledge. This variance will be due to the random selection of States coming up for placement early in the game that are not border states that have to be placed as close as their actual location with no other references. An example of a poor score game would be. Nevada, S. Dakota, Colorado, Arkansas, W. Virginia, and then the rest. No way are you not going to take some hits on that first 5 that drive your score down to the point where the next 45 being perfect fail to get you a really high score. If they ALL were Alphabetical, or by Entrance Date to the Union every time, it would be a more fair test to judge one against another. JMHO of course, and it was fun never the less.
Jeez, I understand howthe "game" is played. I apologizeifmy high score offended you in someway.
82% 44 miles. Those puny little postage stamp yankee states ruined my perfect score. They wouldn't make a decent sized county round these parts!!!
Yeesh. How can you miss the north east states? They all match the coastlines. Now, those western checkerboard states are hard to place without having something to line up with. Colorado was the first one up, no wonder I missed by 100 miles.
The pointer covered up the whole state! I couldn't see the outline!
no offense was taken. what I said was all it was. I congratulated you and I meant it. I also stand by my statement that repeated play is no guarantee of an improved score. I did play the game many many many times. I am quite competitive. all that said .... 2 or 3 or 4 middle of the country states touching no others will skew your score so bad you can't get to single digits. it is just that, nuff said.
