Gar on the line

Today I went out with the sling shot to hunt gar.



Here is one of the gar I shoot with the sling shot fishing set up.

 

I was wondering if they were edible. Would like to see the cleaning process. And also would like to see your whole setup, slingshot ,string and darts. I've tried bow fishing years ago , do you use a spool for your string like in bow fishing ? Thanks for the videos.

That's pretty wild, We always passed on the smaller species of Gar and went for the Alligator Gar

Yes we call them mud fish here

 

You ever eat them?

 

Yes they are another fish most people throw away I make fish patties out of them

 

I like them also, The meat tastes kinda sweet when fresh.
