Japan just announced they are going the same route. The Fa_Qishima mess has convinced them to move away from nuke power and into solar in a big way. Right now, they have 1.3 gigawatts.....by 2020, they plan to have 28, and 50 by 2030.
Which, by the way, is GREAT new for silver, if you happen to be a holder of that metal. The average solar panel uses 2/3 oz of silver. The use of silver in solar has grown from about 1 million ounces ten years ago, to 60 million last year....almost 10% of total industrial use from nothing a decade ago....... and things are just now getting cranking !
