This is the pre-req class before pm's101.

Sokay yes its late in the game[own2], I've been reluctant to include PM's because Every really scary net story of collapse I've ever read. ends with a "BUY gold here ad:"
    (I resisted blatant fear marketing)

Silver is still affordable for me the idea of spending my paypal electronic "money" to buy "hard in the basement money" is starting to appeaL,I see $2.00 overspot seem to be the upward limit.
whats "better"for a non investor/speculator(?) bars or coins?buy' em from a coin dealer, ebay , other online sources or can you still get silber from a bank???

I found the best deals on silver are junk silver - pre -1964? coins that have no collector value but still have silver. Nice because you have small denominations to trade.

Whether you buy over the internet (paper trail and possible OPSEC problems) or from a private dealer with cash is up to you. You'll definitely find better deals with the larger brokers. Nice if you live nearby!

I had gotten pretty good service and prices from these guys:
Bullion Direct: Buy or Sell Precious Metals online, including Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium bars, rounds, and coins

i am in the find a local coin dealer and pay with cash. I am buying about 40 bucks a week in either rounds or junk silver. depending on my mood. i don't have much but some is better than none.

the guy in front of me today picked up 800 in benjamin franklin halves.

i felt bad only buying 40 bucks worth. but felt better after the guy after me sold 600 dollars worth of rounds.

adding a little at a time is the way i roll. [chopper]

My local area coin shops were out of junk silver- they sent it all to the refinery when silver hit $19/oz. When I asked for some, I got "We got rid of all of that when it was high, duh." I don't think he ment to piss me off by incinuating that I was a dunce for not being able to read his mind before asking the question. There's more junk out there, I just have to wait for someone to cash in theirs to the dealer when the price gets high again.

I've had dealers get mad at me for calling pre 64 coins "junk" silver.

Internet retailers have plenty of inventory and generally better prices.

I don't mind doing some transactions over the internet.

Even if confiscation takes place, there's plausible deniability. "I sold that stuff 2 years ago!" Try to prove me wrong!

As far as OPSEC goes - I'm sure they have plenty of bigger customers than lil' ol' me and my penny-anty transactions. Bigger targets.
