Good to Meet You!

Hey Friends - I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Gotta say though that - right now - don't know my hind end from a hole in the ground as far as interacting on the site goes. Gotta figure out where to look , how to look... All kinds of questions in my mind such as "What's a thread?", "Is starting a thread the way to get people's perspective on this or that question?", etc. Probably not.

Like you, I'm interested in pondering, planning, and prepping. On the pondering side, my interests run along the lines of the nature of economics and social structure in a post-petroleum era. I think (but don't know) that life in the future will be more like it was in 30,000 BC than it was in 1820.

Another area of interest is working out a commitment in my local community - after a reset - to prevent ourselves from being overrun by the same B.S. parasites and vampires that are gorging themselves on us now. It's a small finite Rock we're riding on. It's getting crowded and stuff we "need" is getting scare. I get that. But that isn't our biggest problem, IMO. Our real problems are i). the parasites and vampires whose only contribution to our world is counterfieting and loaning money, and ii). those among us who do nothing but push electrons back and forth to one another along internet wires and get paid for it (I'm thinking mostly about bureaucrats here). (i) is theft and (ii) is just damn useless. I don't want to see either group get a foothold in my village after a reset.

 

LOL! @CottageIndustrialist we already met this morning but welcome to the monkey. A thread is this.... this is your second thread. Glad you found us. If you need help, just ask. Everyone here is real friendly and helpful.

 

Thanks @Motomom34. I don't know why, but the term "thread" intimidates the snot out of me. I'm Fred Flintstone groping my way around a Jetson world at the moment. Will do some research this evening.
