Hmm, This looks interesting. I wonder how far it will get in congress, and if it would allow people in D.C. to start having a firearm in the home. HR73 While it really sucks that we have to have a law passed that says we can have a firearm to protect ourselves (considering the 2nd Amendment already allows that), I am going to try and follow this bill to see what happens to it. It will be intersting to follow, but I agree we shouldn't need it in the first place. Selective enforcement of the Bill of Rights is pathetic.
The bill would be great and go further than just allowing people to have guns. It would also make it easier to prosecute anyone who interfered with that right and just as important if not more so it would not only protect people from prosecution if they had to defend themselves, it would also prevent them from being sued by their attacker or the attackers surviving family members. It happens a lot more than most would think that in a self defence case, even when it is proven to be self defence (often after a long hard and EXPENSIVE criminal trial) the attacker who was shot or their family will sue the victim who protected themselves for medical bills, loss of future income and so on AND WIN!
