John Edwards’ 2008 presidential campaign should repay the U.S. Treasury $2.3 million. The commission on Thursday decided to order the repayment. Federal auditors said all but about $200,000 of the total came from federal matching funds the Edwards campaign received. The campaign got nearly $13 million in matching funds. If there was any justice he would be prosecuted for stealing--but that is too harsh a word for politicians to use--it might incriminate themselves.
