Have I mentioned...........I LUV this Damn Site!!! I know quite a few of yall are more paranoid & way more nuts than I am. Yet I've learn a whole dang lot here!!! I've come to think theres not much of any thing you can't ask here that at least one yall monkeys don't know something about. Found links to thinks like Lisa's berm home that I've gotten lost for days in. Currently on page 195 of her 200+ page forum thread on another site on building her off the grid berm home, & learned more about solar power & other things than any book could have told me. Yes I know I don't post much, but thats because I'm busy reading & learning. A few of you Monkeys are so damn smart I'd LOVE to sit for an afternoon & ply you with alcohol to pull the knowledge from your heads. P.S. Don't hurt that yall are definitely a helpful & not stuck up bunch of folks that see more clearly than your average American Citizen seems capable of.
and .... I can be plied with alcohol most any afternoon .... after the 5th or 6th drink of choice the info gets kind of iffy .....Hey, I love it here at the Monkey tree as well. It is a good place to call home.
Stang, you don't even need the alcohol to get us to share what any of us know. All you have to do is ask! Of course, the alcohol is always welcome as well
Stang, my man. Shiner Bock. One six pack. Monday, my place. We'll have brisket, tater salad, and talk prepping.
Stang... 9 of the 10 voices in my head say be kool don't get upset but the tenth voice says... what the hell a nice single malt would be good....
I would point out that we have a great resource for near real time information exchange, here on the Monkey Site. If you want to get together with someone and pick their brains, set up a Virtual Meet, HERE, with the sites FLASHCHAT. To enter the chat room, just select the BLUE FlashChat Button, at the top of the Main forum Page, and it will take you to the "Monkey Lounge" PM the person you want to chat with or have a prearranged time, and have yourself a good Chat. The Secure Comms Crowd has been using this for a couple of months, now, and it works well. If some of Our Forum Leaders, would host a Chat, on their specific Subject, there, we could have some really good freeform discussions with like minded folks, willing to share their knowledge, with other GOOD Folks. For those folks that would just like to get their feet wet, I can usually bE found there from 10-Noon Alaska Time, daily.... I have had some wonderful CHATS with many Monkeys in the last six months..... ......
Bruce is a pretty good chatter. I wish I could say something to add to this thread but all I keep thinking about is BBQ brisket and Shiner Bock.
Your post is exactly why so many of us old timers still come here every day to share information. Glad you enjoy the Monkey!
It's rewarding to know that from our humble beginnings we have grown to be a respected voice in the prepper community. And been able to educate (and entertain) so many people over the years. Thanks for he pat on the back Stang.
I regret I DO have one very BAD thing to blame on yall. See several the most likely SHTF scenarios mean useless electronics. So I tend to like hardcopy i can hold & put on a shelf. Thanks to yall my printer ran thru many many many an ink cartridge. Sadly, It passed away. With it dead it polished off the way I do most my electronic items such as dvd players, laptop PCs, etc..... It was taken outside & shot with a .45. Now I gotta go buy a new printer to keep printing the useful pdf files & other information Yall keep sharing. However instead of a printer using $45 each ink cartridges, I'm going to buy a printer based on how cheap & plentiful the cartridges are. Maybe cut my costs of my Survival Info Library a bit. Yes I know you can refill cartridges and I do, however seems can only do it a few times before it goes kaput. LoL
pics or it didn't happen... HHAAHAHAAH!!! That'll learn ya to never shoot equipment without pictures of the aftermooth for all to enjoy!
I think that's what my wife called the people who lived in the house down the road that moved out so quickly right after that weekend we went through 6 cases of Tannerite...
A Neighbor is generally defined, at least here, as a nosey, ignorant person living closer to your home than you like, tends to look down on your Be Prepared state of mind, but will coming running & begging when the SHTF!
No, a "neighbor" is someone who lives in your neighborhood, the size of which varies by location. My Neighborhood is 100 Sq Miles. A "Close neighbor" is someone who lives within 10 Sq Miles centered at my place. We have about 8 Close Neighbors here in the winters, seven of which are GOOD Neighbors. Our summer population increases significantly, as the Snowbirds return, and we have about 50 Folks in the neighborhood, and maybe 30 of those in the Close Neighborhood. We had out First Neighborhood Gather on Sunday. Hamburgers and Dawgs, with all the Fix'ens, and had 27 Folks show up. A great time was had by ALL, and that ONE Guy was NOT invited. .....
