    Seeing the efficiency of pellet stoves I am tempted to build a blower like they have ,not so much for more heat ,600 degrees is good enough, but to reduce the creosote and maintain/improve the efficiency.
    I have some very small computer fans 2" I can work ducting from a fan at the floor ,and potentiometer to regulate speed/volume.
    A more effective burn would also mean less ash and soot .

    @arleigh
    If the stove is not designed for forced (or induced) draft, I believe that all the fan will accomplish for you is faster fuel use and no efficiency gain at all. If you have and maintain 600 degrees in the smoke pipe, creosote will not be too awful troublesome. Can't hurt to experiment, just make certain that makeup air is readily available. (That should come from outside, not from the heated space. BYKT.)

    We burn 20 face cord a year in two wood stoves.
    Sweep the chimney every late summer/early fall.
    have always considered sweeping the cost of heating with wood. It takes under 2 hours to sweep both.
    Rods and brushes cost maybe 125.00 which is less than calling in a professional sweep ;)
