Just back from a five week vacation in the Northern Territory here....it was great just me and Mrs Andy in the 4x4. Travelled lots of Km (11,800 to be exact) and saw lots of great places....and some shitty ones... [beat]

I have attached a few of the better pics from the trip.
Hope you are all well and I will try and be more regular.....[lolol][beer]

Thanks mate...the sign is one of many posted in designated areas around indigenous communities. They are trying to limit the serious issues of alcohol and child sex abuse taking place out there. Sad state of affairs in many ways.

The possession of alcohol (or porn) by someone like me on a trip is of little concern to the authorities. However the laws are aiming at being able to slam the types who drive a truck load of either out into one of the camps or missions and start peddling it to the locals.

Good to see you back Andy. Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing them with us. Those crocs sure can fly out of the water. Funny, I didn't see any "Men At Work" signs....[lolol]

BTW, how exactly does a man get a five week vacation?

....it is the thing most American envy most about us Aussies (besides my charm wit and personality). As a humble employee of the Government I get six weeks vacation (because I shift work, four if I was Monday to Friday) a year, accumulated at the rate of 2 and a bit days a month. If you are like me and don't take leave that much it can build up. everyone gets at least a month off each year no matter what you do or who you work for. When I took the time off for this trip I had around 5 months built up, still have three and a half now....[beer]. That of course does not include my "extended leave" or Long Service Leave" as it is called. Once I completed 10 years service I got given three months of this leave that accrues at the rate of two weeks each year after the that (I have about five months of this as well). Don't forget the nine months of "sick leave" I have should I take ill.

All leave is at full pay....unless I want to take it at 1/2 pay and double the time I am off.....[boozingbuddies][boozingbuddies][boozingbuddies]

Had lunch with Milhol a week ago.

......they have to be as most people (Darwinism that we should not interfere with if you ask me) just don't get that up there (and north Queensland and WA) you are part of the food chain..[gone]

Back away? Call for help? Just how do you do that in the outback? Feed 'em something heavy and fast. (Oh. Forgot. You aren't supposed to be able to do that, are you.) Somethings you have, we can envy, like sky, space to wiggle, and scenery. And vice versa, I suppose.

Hope the pic of you standing in the waters edge with the fish wasnt around the same time and place as the pic before it of the crock standing out of the water. Think that might make me stay back a bit from the water, especialy if unarmed...have a good gun and might be makeing some new boots as the meat roasted on the grill.

Different river mate.......there was a 4.5 metre croc lurking just near where I am with that fish though....same spot saw the local shop keeper taken some years back (his wife managed to video the whole attack ...very sad). The jumping is limited pretty much to the Adelaide River as they have been fed by the tourist boats for so long they learn the behaviour. Up the rocks where I am is "safe" at low tide....[beat]

[lolol].....I am all for not bothering ANYTHING that can kill and eat you. It is not unusual to see a big dominant croc getting around an area with a smaller croc in its mouth....just to let everyone know who is in charge.....taser1

Wow, I thought my Gov. leave was good. I get a little over five weeks a year of annual leave, all major holidays, and a little over two and a half weeks of sick leave.

No wonder you can take such a nice long vacation. Good for you!
