I thought I would say hi and introduce myself. I'm not really a true prepper in a sense, but I do love learning how to live off the grid and I spent a lot of my time in the outdoors. I love to camp, hike, backpack, trek, basically anything that lets me live off the land for extended periods of time. I absolutely love it. This site/forum looks amazingly well organized and everyone seems so friendly and informative based on what I've been reading. I hope to stick around for awhile and really learn a thing or two, and maybe, share some experiences and knowledge I've picked up along the way.
Wow, thank you all for the warm wishes. It does look like a good group of people here and I'm sure I will enjoy my time.
Glad you joined @CalmAsHinduCows. Question regarding your backpacking- hiking. When you hike do you carry all you need for X amount of days or do you carry minimal and make shelters from the resources around you etc..?
Great question. I normally just have a small pack with my essentials and craft/make what I need to. I've been volunteering on different WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) sites, in different countries, going on 8 years now. Its been a blast and a learning experience for sure. It also depends if I'm going solo or with a group, ages of everyone, etc. But, overall, just the bare necessities.
Excellent, another source of knowledge, with experience on trails. I look forward to your gear reviews, and choices in equipment.
Western MA is very beautiful country. I miss venturing out there, lots of fantastic nature trails. Welcome to the monkey!
Again, thank you so much all the welcomes. This place already seems like somewhere I'd love to stick around.
