Hillary Confuses Declaration of Independence with Constitution When Pushing Gun Control

The video above will most likely elicit one of two reactions. Either (a) it will confirm in one’s mind that when it comes to the Constitution, that critically important document that limits the powers of government and codifies the rights of the people, Hillary Clinton doesn’t know her butt from a hole in the ground. Or (b) one will defend Hillary, and argue that it was an honest mistake.

So, here’s what happened. While appearing on the Steve Harvey Show, or whatever it’s called, Hillary Clinton started to pitch her anti-gun agenda to the audience, suggesting that it’s time for people to take on the National Rifle Association and remind it what the Constitution says.

“We’ve got to say to the gun lobby, you know what, there is a constitutional right for people to own guns, but there’s also a constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that enables us to have a safe country where we are able to protect our children and others from this senseless gun violence,” she said.

Clinton is, of course, confusing the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Putting the conflation aside, Clinton is wrong that these two ideas are in conflict with one another. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the Second Amendment is what safeguards one’s unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Remember, government is the biggest existential threat to one’s liberties — not some gang banger with a gun. Yes, we all want to keep guns out of the hands of prohibited persons, but not at the expense of one’s right to keep and bear arms. If we disarm America — or subarm America — as Hillary wants in a futile effort to keep bad guys from obtaining guns, we will inevitably lose those unalienable rights stated in the Declaration of Independence to government tyranny. And we will also lose all the rights codified in the Constitution: free speech, religion, due process, etc., to government tyranny. Not to mention the fact that without the 2A we will be defenseless against the very gang-banger we tried to disarm via Hillary’s gun-control agenda in the first place. Gun control is a lose, lose proposition.

Our founders and framers knew how critically important an armed America was to preserving freedom. It’s why they included the Second Amendment. Hillary should know this. She’s running for president! But then again, maybe she doesn’t really care about what the Constitution says.

 

I would say it was neither a mistake nor a misunderstanding. Politicians understand all too well that the vast majority of TV watchers believe whatever they are told, so if you tell people it is in the constitution that they have such a right, then they will believe it is written as such. Now you will have bobbleheads yammering about how the right to a happy life free from seeing guns is in the constitution.

The day Stewie invents a working time machine I'm going back to inform the founding fathers they need to reword the 2A in such a manner it can NEVER be misconstrued to mean anything but the right to bear arms.

 

Of course, Hillary doesn't care in the slightest that guns might fall into the hands of criminals. In fact, that's exactly what she wants. Her agenda is to disarm the citizens so they can be treated like slaves. The more she disarms law-abiding citizens, the more criminals will be able to commit gun crimes unimpeded. And that will mean more terror to Hillary use as a reason to further disarm the law-abiding citizens.

Remember: For Hillary to care anything about any citizen, she has to be able to feel empathy for them. Being a stone sociopath, she can't.

So all she wants is unlimited power to do with anyone as she pleases.

I just voted and it wasn't for Hillary.

 

she's attempting to spout the latest meme from the gun-grabbers...that they have an unalienable right to "feel safe" and those of us who exercise our unalienable right to keep and bear arms are infringing upon their right to feel safe. I usually counter that irrational fear of your fellow citizens is not a right, it's a mental illness.
