It seemed that the FA91 would be a natural match for one of the 22 conversion kits to let me plink with a full sized HK without burning up expensive 308 or risking any damage to the aluminum receiver. I acquired the conversion kit but found that the 22 bolt has a projection on the rear lower right (as seen from behind) that stops it from fully going into the receiver. This looks like a metal bar welded to the bottom of the 22 bolt assembly such that it projects just a tiny bit too low.

2 minutes working with a flat file would take the difference off, but with as much invested in the conversion kit as in the rifle, I hate to modify anything without asking for help!

Has anyone here installed one of these kits before?
If you were in my shoes would you take a few hundreds of an inch off the conversion kit?

Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Can you contact the company that made the conversion unit? Ask them about it?

Doesn't apply here sea wolf as it is an HK made for the German military conversion kit and the rifle is a US made supposed HK91 clone. I can't even contact Federal Arms because last I knew they were out of business as well.... I'll have to chase this question on the HK boards.
