My My My...Guess i'll wade in a bit on this since i fly...a lot...and
Under a bit different circumstances...Since i was sitting next to the young man...
Seem's this young man is closter phobic and he was part of a crew that loaded up one morning at the shorebase in a Syscorski S-76...13 men on board .We take off and about 3 minutes into the flight the young man undoes his seat belt and proceeds to try climbing over the seats and men...We grab him...Hold him down and divert back to the shorebase...We arrive and shut-down and get him off the S-76 which by that time he has crapped his pant's...for real...We now have to refile a flight plan since we are being controlled out of Deridder at that time...2 Bottom line's here...He never flew with us again,We did what we had to do since he was endangering our live's...I wish him well...Gator

That would seem to be the case, as reported in the Smoking Gun report. He sounds like an angry young man with an over inflated sense of self entitlement. A year or so in the cooler is probably not going to change the guy's POV, that is if he is actually convicted and sentenced (seems the insanity defence is going to be played). If he is not a United States citizen, then he should be deported....I believe there are some under utilised aircraft on special rendition charters that could do the job. ; )

Whoa!!! You're opening a can of worms there SC....you'll get lots of "brand differentiation" apologetics from the Abrahamic God theists on that one. It will be a combination of the diaspora pogroms and the crusades revisited ....Three religions divided by the One God(no son and no holy ghost), and the Triune God....I think I'll just get back to reading Sartre's "Being and Nothingness"....it's so much clearer, consistent and more coherant than the Torah, the New and Old Testaments, or the Koran are. I am not aware of any war or genocide being inspired by a belief in existential philosophy....just maybe some self inflicted cancer from smoking Gauloises cigarettes and cheap wine. - Chelloveck

I don't really care what the guys says on the plane. As far as the masses are concerned, anyone who yells "Allah Akbar!" on a plane is synonymous with those who hijacked planes on 9/11 (whether it happened, didn't happen, was a plot by Jews or an Alien invasion, etc, I am not interested in arguing). In the majority of the flying "traffics" mind, the last time this was yelled on the plane it had a catastrophic ending. Agreed....Shouting Allah Akbar in an aggressive, agitated manner is a definite hot button for flying passengers....regardless of what the person's beliefs are...associated with past events hearing someone shouting "Alah Akbar" will trigger the "There's a sabre toothed tiger that's trying to kill me" reflex....passengers will it...understandably act on the threat and will remove the threat, one way or another. - Chelloveck

If he acted like he did in Portland (as shown in the article above) in Saudi Arabia, I bet he would bet his head would be on the chopping block. He is lucky to have done this in the USA where he will get a hand slap and the gift of deportation versus death.

My 2 cents... Regardless of religious views the guy did not do as he was told... If I have to follow the rules (as a christian) this guy should do the same. I feel it had nothing to do with what he spouted off and could care less honestly. The fact is he didn't obey the flight attendant, made a big stink, and got beat down... After 9/11 a lot of people are on edge about stuff like this, this I have no doubt and I don't blame them. I say the guy got what he deserved regardless of what he said... I wouldn't have expected any different from a christian doing the same thing on a plane.

About Saudi & Alcohol...

Through my recent work, I have discovered through hoteliers why parties are very private in Saudi and held in hotels for the most part.

Saudi Arabia is the #1 country in the world for the black market sales of Johnny Walker Black. Not bad for a dry, alcoholless country. I can only think they clean a lot of glasses with the stuff before they drink water out of them.

You won't find that anywhere on the internet either.
