How artificial intelligence will reduce population starting now

My background is in computer science. When AI started getting big, I bought a bunch of equipment to experiment and learn all about it, figuring it was going to be the next big thing.

After learning more about it (I don't claim to be some kind of expert, but I have run and trained local models on specialized hardware), I become profoundly anti-AI.

Degeneracy aside (that's a cultural issue IMO, and something that can be solved by separating ourselves and our families from the mainstream culture, homeschooling, etc), I'm more worried about the propaganda possibilities.

See, actually training the base models requires a huge amount of computing power and energy. About the best we can really do on an individual / independent budget is train LORAs (think of these as extra guidance for the AI that still runs on top of the base model). And that still requires specialized hardware. It's not something you do on a consumer PC or your phone.

So that means that the only entities who are going to be training the base models are the ones with effectively limitless resources. That is, governments and mega-corps (in my mind, there isn't really any difference between the two, and the government is just the biggest corp and has a monopoly on violence, but that's a different rant lol).

This means two things:

1. All of the base models will always have the biases trained into them by whatever corpo or government makes them. Regardless of how hard you try to train a LORA on top of them to change their behavior, they will always have a built-in tendency to follow those deep biases. The result being that their output will always be subtle pro-corpo or pro-government propaganda that normalizes whatever ideology those entities are trying to push on their subjects (us), through the materials chosen to train the base model on.

2. With all the data harvesting and profiling that they get from our internet usage, it will be very easy for these entities to use AI to generate customized propaganda to insert in our media feeds. They'll use AI to both keep us all compliant with individually customized propaganda and to easily predict who might cause trouble based on a profile generated from our online footprint.

I am firmly convinced that AI is going to lead us into a dystopia that is at least an order of magnitude more Orwellian than the one we already live in. And I'm not sure there's anything anyone can do about it.

At the risk of maybe sounding like a kook, sometimes I think that AI might be the "image given breath" by the second beast in Revelation....

Yeah, we are all going to have an AI imposter that looks like us and sounds like us in the mind of the machine.
It's coming .. and it's not as far aways as you think.

About all he could have done was written a book and gone off to join an Amish community somewhere, eventually gone on Joe Rogan or something like that.
But a normal course of action is probably out of the question when you're still all fucked up from mkUltra experiments that happened decades ago.
