    Human Toll for Bird Flu in 2008 Reaches 42

    GLOBAL - The World Health Organisation has updated its report on the cumulative number of confirmed human cases of avian influenza A/(H5N1). There were 42 cases in 2008, of which 31 were fatal, continuing the decline which peaked in 2006. These bring the totals since 2003 to 393 cases, 248 of whom have died.
