About the Savage FP series bolt rifles. I mean really good things. Anyone here have an experience?

The Savage is button rifled, like the best custom rifles. The Savage barrel nut is how the chamber is headspaced, so that operation is more precise, too. I had a 110FP in 7 Mag, never shot a group bigger than one inch with factory ammo. Never got around to reloading for it, several factory loads shot a LOT better than that. The Savages will shoot with or outshoot rifles costing hundreds of dollars more. I have always been a proponent of buying a less expensive rifle, or pistol for that matter, and spend the rest of the money on ammo. And practice.

The Savage rifles do seem to be very well built judging from the ones I have handled. A lot of gun for the money in my opinion. If your looking for a hunting gun they would sure be hard to beat.

I have an FP LE2 (26 inch barrel) in .308 (the only cal it comes in)

Shoots like this at 100 yards, using 168 gr. Federal Gold Match King.

    That's a 3/8 inch group.
