Slice and spread 6-8 peeled apples into a greased 8 x8 baking pan
Sprinkle with: 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tbsps of water (both optional - sugar depending on sweetness of apple type and water depending on juiciness of apple type)
Mix and then spread over the apples: 4 tbsps butter, 1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cup nuts
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until apples are tender

The recipe is from Deseret Recipes, a book published by the LDS church in 1981.

Old old recipe and can't be beat with a good tart apple, Courtlands etc, and walnuts. Mom made it 75 years ago and my wife still makes it. Almost tart apples are good and the contrast with the almost candy for a topping is indeed one of life's simple pleasures. Well worth trying

Nice @tacmotusn. This is a real easy and simple recipe. I have about 5 pounds of peaches that need to be used up quick. I think I can make this crisp using the peaches but I am unsure if cinnamon is the correct spice.

@Motomom34 Use dark brown sugar vice white and a bit of vanilla (teaspoon to tablespoon) and drop the cinnamon. Melt some seedless Raspberry jam and drizzle over the top after removing from oven. Think Peaches Melba Crunch. I think it will be quite tasty.

In our house 5 lbs of peaches would disappear over short cake with whipped cream, over our oatmeal for breakfast and over a little ice cream or yogurt. Never lasts long enough to reach the oven.

I do not have raspberry jam but I do have lingonberry and I think that will work fine. Thanks @tacmotusn your suggestion was perfect.
