Technically, if you equate a ball to a sphere, it is perfect, so, there can be no improvement.

I don't see the point of thread without some context to go by.

You ask a vague, meaningless question, you get the same in responses. No?

They said the same thing about Steve Jobs and Apple - they once questioned the need for a 'giant' iPhone (iPad). I once asked why the hell people needed cameras on cell phones and what the point of text messages were. This is big man. Can you imagine the day when we create a more perfect sphere?

We could be on the verge of flat earth / round earth debates and maybe even persecutions. Look where it got Galileo!
In this age of tolerance, can we even question the ball?

I caution all who follow this path that it could end badly - what if the ball was not a ball at all.

Spoon boy: Do not try and bounce the ball. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
    Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no ball.
    Neo: There is no ball?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the ball that bounces, it is only yourself.

But the laws of science tell us that nothing is "perfect"

The perfect ball??? I say, "Ballderdash!"

Edit: I don't think we need take the opening post too seriously...its a quota post by a neophyte wanting to become a fully fledged monkey. Welcome to the tree Valkerie...nice Adam Ant boy band tribute avatar!

to be a sphere, by definition, it has to be perfectly round. e.g., the sun

I would agree, but, then you get called into the pricipal's office for going off topic.

Since when did that ever stop anyone in this place???....hijacking and derailing is almost de rigueur ;) in many threads. Case in point...."Chicks in Combat. What's Next??" degenerating into war stories by the old and bold, comparing notes on battlefield crotch rot.

Is that a formula for the perfect circle.......... or maybe we do go with irrrational as Cato suggested.

Well, Pi (3.14) cannot be solved but that's just mathematical theory math-babble. Maybe the ball could be improve. I'm not saying improved because that was the not the original poster's statement.

The only ball that needs improve is the golf ball. Every time I hit one they veer way off to the right!!

Next, we'll be debating the merits of mils and degrees in calculating the angular subtension of two points on the arc of a circumference of a ball. o_O (mils are easier on the head if you use 6400 of them, which is a close approximation, but degrees are more accurate) Mils may be ok for adjusting mortars and artillery...but using mils for naval navigation my find you on the beach.
