I haven't had any sugar or oats, flour, carbs (an a few other things) for a very long time but last night, I decided that the one thing in the world that I really wanted was apple crisp - they had some freshly baked at the Deli. I got a nice healthy portion and gobbled in down after my black bean soup and salad. About a half hour later, I was at my desk working and talking to Mike when all of a sudden the world turned upside down and behaved like a whirling dervish. the ceiling was on the floor, the floor on the walls, my 3 computer monitors appearing as though in a fun house mirror. My stomach couldn't take all that action and threatened present my supper in a most unpleasant manner. I started to sweat as though I I were running through a tropical jungle. Most Unpleasant! Mike was trying to get me up off the floor and trying to call an ambulance at the same time when I came around enough to at least sit up. The taxi ride with flashing lights was averted but only because I know how to stand my ground or should I say sit my ground. After a good half hour - 45 mins of this, it started to pass and over the next few hours I started to feel fine. I think what happened is that I had a severe reaction to all that sugar and carbs in the Apple Crisp. I think my blood sugar spiked and by body wasn't used to handling it. Maybe before I indulge again I better think of easing myself into it, a few bites of dark chocolate with sea salt maybe? I think I cured myself of craving apple crisp but I wonder how the blueberry is?
Glad you are better RH That might have been food poisoning, Viral gastroenteritis or a number of other things. Please see your local health monkey when you can
And here I thought it was merely the sugar fairy batting me about with her gossamer wings. I still prefer that explanation to any other possibilities
I remember those brownies as much more fun that last night. You've convinced me - it's forget the apple crisp and return to those good old brownies.
You really should visit the doc and let them due some blood work.....better safe then sorry RH. My dad way back had something similar and ended up with a heart issue. Take care of yourself young lady!!
Thanks for your concern. I think its mainly due to the fact that I'm running on empty. Too many all nighters, too little sleep, no real meals to speak of, just soup and salad for supper and usually some tuna fish with olive oil around 2am. I am not a foolish woman just an over stressed one at the moment.

I agree with the home blood test, now. Then do the fast and get it (A1C) checked through your doctor. Glad all symptoms have subsided and you are OK.
Glad you are better @RightHand. But I agree that you should play it safe and get checked. This is coming from a guy who hates going to the doctor.
So far I have outlived 1 GP, 1 heart surgeon, a dentist and seen a few others retire. Going to the Docs is a "highly recommend" by me, myself and I, we all hang together but that casket may be a bit crowded so I'll let the others go first.
