Most of the wind turbines that I have looked at had speed brakes, governors or disconnects to prevent run-away turbines tearing themselves apart.
Motors can generate power it's old tech. My 2011 Nissan leaf motor goes from being a motor to a generator in an instant. It's a called a AC synchronous motor, they have been around for like a hundred years. They're far from a perpetual motion machine. But they will increase the range of an electric vehicle in the city by up to 50% or add 10mpg or more fuel economy to a hybrid.
I have a wind mill design that actually detunes the blades using the centrifugal force, thus preventing over speed. but no one is using it.
You use excess power to heat water. radiant floor heat in greenhouses also. Speed brakes are bad and burn up the Stator(something I read) You need enough diversion loads to absorb all the power your system can produce.
I would like to see that. Tilting wind turbine heads spill wind. I would like to keep track of the power used by my system when it comes online. I already figured I needed more panels. There are better designs out there that make a lot of power. Solar has gotten better and slightly cheaper.
