My question is about pressure cookers (not PMS) and I don't know where to put it. This has an unfamiliar top, and I'm not sure if this is okay to use. It's a Presto cooker.
WOW. That's a relic...maybe Ghrit can help you there? =P Uh, my guess is, as long as the regulator works, it's a keeper. How is that lid kept tight? does it twist and clamp in place? Looks like it does. I dunno, maybe you can buy a new regulator for it. Tac also knows a fair bit about canning, maybe he can offer some assistance.
It has a twist/tighten motion and a white gasket that seems surprisingly okay. It's the regulator I'm scared of though... even brand new pressure cookers scare me half to death.
I'd check it out outside on the BBQ the first time and like what was said if the reg works it's a keeper. I have one that is that old and it still works fine .
it should work well... old time tried & true design... trying it outside would also be wise... the emergency pressue release check valve might be loose....
