Well, this week has been typical. One of my crew was murdered during a particulary difficult salvage project and the attendant problems that caused has to be taken in stride with the on-going work that has finally reached the seventh level of hell. We were finally able to get a partial refloat, just long enough to remove the casualty from the main shipping lanes here( a process that took 38 uninterupted hours of work) and take some of the heat off from the local authorities but still have the insurance underwritters screaming to get it up and away from here in-spite of two hurricanes and a host of other minor problems. I have developed a nice smoker's cough in the past few days and I didn't even smoke before I got here, except for an occassional cuban cigar. My counter-part with our Dutch partner on this project is a lttle nazi-wannabe named Polderman and I sent an email in to my office this morning that if ever I am asked to do another joint salvage with svitzer-wijsmuller, I'm sure I'll have more pressing obligations to attent to, like re-arranging my sock drawer.
I really enjoy the seacowboys 'at large' reports from around the globe. Stay safe and keep the stories coming.
SC, I hope that you keep a detailed journal because this is all going to make one hellacious book one day. Be safe.
Be careful and try to stay safe SC. Sure hope the dutch guy falls overboard or something (might help his nazi attitude).
