I've a SOCOM II with literally under 400 rounds down the barrel (ammo=expensive). I was at the range last week and I noticed these extractor marks on the rear of the case. Any ideas? sorry for the horrible picture.. getting a low light contrast with a "not so good" camera was hard.

From the pic, I think you are looking at a more or less normal mark from when the bolt goes home.

Thank for setting my mind at ease. I was concerned because I was using some different ammo.. man, you should have seen the freaking flash coming out of the barrel!! LOL.. scared the **** out of me the first time :) (used PMC). None of the other ammo I ran flashed that bad. Good ammo.. has some punch to it for sure :)

Mine is pretty harsh on brass too. I have no experience with reshaping or determining what brass is salvageable so I have just been filling ammo cans with my spent brass. Mine also gets dented up at the rim where the bullet seats and some small dents just below the neck. When I do actually get some reloading experience I'll have some to experiment and learn with. Just need to get some time with my uncle so he can begin to teach me.

Those dents on the neck or shoulder are probably from hitting the deflector instead of your face. Any on the neck will come out when you resize during reloading. Those on the shoulder will fire form next time you shoot them. More info can be found on the HandloadersBench, click on the link on the main page of the forum.
