Been thinking of playing with the stuff andI can see it being used for things other than knives as well. Bear just made me a nice desert tan sheath and I was looking for a 'how to'... found a bunch of tutorials.

Going to order some from knifekits.com and see what I can do.

For a sheath with a flat back do this:

Heat the kydex in an oven, about 300* for a few minutes and it gets real soft. Place the soft kydex over the knife which is on the floor on a flat cookie sheet. Drop the plywwod with the foam over the knife and stand on it for awhile.

Lift up the plywood and you will have a terrific kydex piec molded around the knife. Lay the molded kydex on a flat piece of kydex. Drill your rivet holes, set rivets and cut to shape. Sand edges to finish. Yeah, you have to have a belt loop, but this is basicly it.

Fine tune the fit with a heat gun and your fingers in cotton gloves.

Same thing for a fold over sheath except you sandwhich the knife and soft hot kydex between two sheete of plywood coated with foam.
