Hey everyone! First I'd like to say I am so excited to have found this forum. I've found myself starving to talk to like minded people from other social media channels. I can't wait to learn and share with you guys.
Second, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. My husband, our 3 children and I bought land in March of this year in South East Tennessee. We've both basically lived here most of our lives. We sold our house this summer and have since then purchased a camper and are living on the land. We are building a cob house and workshop. We plan to live in the workshop for the next 3-5 years while we build our perment house. We've just finish pouring our stem wall and are about to place our lumber and tin order for our roof! Our home site is about a mile from the road. Running water and utilities will be a costly endeavor (somewhere close to 20k) so we will most likely invest in solar, windmills and rain water collection.
Our objective is to be closer with nature, live more naturally, get out of corporate America, invest in ourselves, the list goes on but you get the point. We've been recording our progress and hope to have a running website of our own soon.
Thanks for reading my post. I'm looking forward to being on here.

Happy to have you. We all learn from each other here. So if you have questions, don't be shy. Someone else probably has the same question.

Thank you! Lol..we have water currently. We have a tap at the end of the road that we haul up to the home site. And thanks for the solar websites. We've read so much on it and it all seems overwhelming. I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions about that when we get closer to that point. Most of our land is woods with thick underbrush. We actually have loggers out here now. We are clearing for our pasture and our orchard. Everyday it's like a new adventure going to see the land we bought lol. We've asked them to leave nut bearing trees and ones that would encourage wildlife to be here. They are doing a great job of that. As far as knowing the land and knowing what is real, what tips do you have? What should we be looking for?

Thank you! I will definitely not be shy. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you!

    Thank you!
