Lost Churches of Louisiana One of the local television stations in South Louisiana actually aired an interview with a black woman from New Orleans. The interviewer was a woman from a Boston affiliate. She asked the black woman how such total and complete devastation of the churches in the area had affected their lives. Without hesitation, the woman replied," I don't know about all those other people, but we haven't gone to churches in years. We gets our chicken from Popeye's." The look on the interviewer's face was priceless.
Al don't own Popeyes no more. Like the snake that ate the alligator, taking over Churches was fatal, he couldn't keep cash flow going during the takeover and went under. He was smart enough to have his spice recipe patented, and owned by another company, so he still gets royalties from Popeyes.
Does he still own Copeland's Restaurants? There's one down in Jax....only eaten there once..and it was not that great...not bad..but not good enough for me to make a trip down there again anytime soon......
