I think this is good news, right? What do you think? I am a bit concerned as he's getting a bit long in the tooth (74 or 75) but as long as he can do the work then why not...

"Lt. Col. Oliver North is set to become the president of the National Rifle Association of America, a process the NRA Board of Directors initiated Monday, the group announced."

"NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch congratulated North on his new position. "Thrilled about the Oliver North news. A total warrior for freedom, this is the last person that anti-gun advocates would want as the new President of the NRA board," she tweeted. "

Already saw the "Liberal Spin machine" asking why the NRA would want a "Prohibited Person" should be President of the NRA...

The deal is that the President is a figurehead. Ollie isn't what he was, and doesn't need to be, NRA functionally anyway. LaPierre, the CEO, is the driver. That said, Ollie will be listened to, both in camera and in public.

That's all fine and good for the running show, but it' that assholes Wayne LaPierre who runs the show, and until he goes, the NRA are toothless, spineless, headache at most! Wayne is the worst thing to ever happen to the NRA, he is nothing but a greedy backstabbing crook, and arrogant as hell, some body needs to punch him square in the mouth! Until Wayne is gone, I have pulled my support and my life membership and that of my entire family, not one penny until Wayne is GONE!
And where is the NRA in Oregon? Safely ensconced in its offices at command central D.C. and is unavailable for comment on the actions in OryGun to stop the scorched earth initiative's on the books almost ready to go before the voters, where the hell is the NRA? Mailing out flyers begging for more money, or calling you on the phone begging for more money! Duck Em!

Too late for us, the NRA is dead to my family and friends! No more phone calls or mailings once we sent the life membership cards back with a nasty note and pictures! Didn't even get a sorry your not happy card reprinted for their convenience! Sad when a group that purports to stand up for rights goes and hides in the dark corner playing with the cheese grater leaving us high and dry to fend off the wolves ourselves!

Sorry for the thread drift, but I have had it with them! Don't care about Ollie, good luck to him!

I think this is the crux of the issue, too. Oliver North is and always has been a right winger, even during the Reagan Administration with his secret government corporate enterprise in the Contras. I think he's a well connected guy who can strum up money and keep it flowing -that's the real reason why they chose him. But yeah, his face is much more friendly than LaPierre these days. The NRA is a business FIRST, after all.

As for the Second Amendment? Well...it's a really good talking piece.

I believe the convictions were overturned and vacated, so that would remove restrictions on possession. Worth checking, I've been wrong before. That said, the NRA would not be that stupid, neither LaPierre or Cox are moronic enough to OK a convicted felon as prexie.

Ollie don't need no stinkin' guns. His most powerful weapons were secret bank accounts and a willing secretary with a shredder. I wonder when the NRA will be acquiring a Shreddermatic 3000 Evidence Destroyer?

ghrit is correct, Mr North's convictions were vacated and reversed by the Judge that heard the case, due to procedural Error on the part of the Judge, in not exploring the Possibility that witnesses in the case were contaminated by Immunized Testimony from the Congressional Inquiry into the Iran/Contra Affair... It was a MAJOR Judicial Mistake to not allow those perceptions, by the Witnesses, to be uncovered, and made known to the Jury, during the trial.... The .GOV decided that any retrial, would be fatally Flawed, by the same issues, so the final effect is that Mr North was NEVER legally convicted of ANYTHING....

Yes, and none of it actually made North innocent, it just meant he got away with the crimes, as did many others in the secret government.
But, such is the way with corporate tyranny.

I uploaded this in 2011, and it still makes every YouTube communist angry. One great part is where Senator John Kerry actually plays the white knight and when speaking about the Reagan Administration claims, "They were willing to put the Constitution at risk, because they believed in a higher order of things...that the ends do justify the means...that's the most Marxist, totalitarian doctrine I've ever heard of in my life." And that's odd coming from a Liberal Communist and renowned Zionist. That's politics for you in 'Murica!

Yes, the Secret Government was nothing new even then. The thing is, wealthy industrialists and banking corporations have been waging war for profit for so long it's tough to find a war on record where they weren't involved. I think they were just caught this time, and they made it into a scandalous affair to cover up the true depth of treachery. Think Dwight D. Eisenhower and his farewell speech kind of treachery.

In time we find the truth and it is not always what we hoped for, I do know this that Aholes have no color gender or religion so a sack full is what I base my opinion on when asked about government leaders of any nation, I am sure there are a few that are genuinely concerned but looking into that aforementioned sack how could you ever tell unless you had all the video and archives of what they voted on wrote or said, that's when it becomes reality and you realize we've been had or misunderstood their position and why.

It is not easy being human we make a lot pf mistakes It is painful when people you thought were patriots threw us under the bus.
