I am looking at several M1 Garrand rifles. One real nice sporterized. They claim that the erosion (whatever that is) is at 2 . Is this good? Im guessing this was due to military ammo being corrosive? Several out there for under 1000 bucks one at 700. Is this a good price for 30-06 Garrand? Kingfish
You can get a rack grade M1 Garand for 795 frns at the CMP. More, of course, for better grades. They have an earned reputation for consistent and accurate grading. You get what you asked for, and now and then better. If I didn't already have an M1, I would spring for a CMP special at 995 frns.
I also highly recommend CMP. I bought a "Special Grade" manufactured in 1958. It looks and shoots like it has been sitting in an armory for the last 50 years. Their customer service is outstanding. I felt that the front sight on the first rifle they set me was a little off kilter, one phone call to CMP and they exchanged with not a problem. Check for the ammo clips and M2 surplus ammo as well, the may be running low. Below is a stock photo of the Special Grade.
OUTSTANDING RIFLE!! There is something about the parkerized gray/green on wood that make the heart warm.
