From my perspective -It's like watching monkeys playing around with power tools. The tech we develop is used to create weapons which kill innocent people. The tech we develop is used to further enrich the lives of billionaires and mega corporate empires. We do not develop technology to better mankind. To answer your question directly; no, tech will not save us. We are a dying race.
You're painfully realistic.. I'm not fooled by the climbing dow, but this and the the shale gas thing caught me by surprise I had hope for our future.. Still waiting for the vulcans to drop out of warp and ring the whitehouse door bell..

I always have optimism to spare! Don't take Brokor's dose of reality as a pessimistic view (I don't). Optimism comes from the satisfaction of being prepared for what you feel is (or your perception of) a disaster. Don't get trapped by negative entities (words, reports, people): Listen closely, reassess (items or mindset), prepare, Smile! This was a rather interesting article. It will be neat to see if they actually use the technology discovered, or just spend too much money and time researching it. After all, it was only predicted a century ago. It does look like its uses will be limited.
