** Information on the traditional uses and properties of herbs are provided on this site is for educational use only, and is not intended as medical advice. Every attempt has been made for accuracy, but none is guaranteed. Many traditional uses and properties of herbs have not been validated by the FDA. If you have any serious health concerns, you should always check with your health care practitioner before self-administering herbs. **

There is a growing desire for information of medicinal herbs and herbal oils to be used for healing purposes. Info, charts, books and links should be added here. Please note there is a large difference between herbs and oils. Example- taking herbs vs. oils. Oils are more powerful and one can take a lethal dosage consuming oils. Know your stuff.

One of the best herb lists/chart/site I have found: Annie's Remedies

Medicinal Herb Chart Plants Uses More herbs and remedies are one this site. This site has loads of information.

I personally consume herbal teas. I have boxes of different teas to address different aliments. Currently I buy boxed teas from Yogi or Traditional Medicinals. IMO Yogi is better but their antioxidant teas are plain.

From drinking herbals for health purposes, I have learned to read the boxes. Thus learning cold teas always have certain herbs.

I do not know if I agree with this list, nor do I know all the plants. I also noticed that the author didn't mention his growing area. That is something to consider

One book I would recommend is
Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Fifth Edition: A Practical A-to-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & Food Supplements: Phyllis A. Balch CNC: 9781583334003: Books

I own the 4th edition, which I got after giving the prior edition away. They are great books. I noticed on Amazon the 4th edition is really cheap. I recommend this book to anyone who want to start healing naturally. The natural food store I shop at has this book open and for use to shoppers so they can consult and reference when shopping.

Any guides written by this woman are a must have. Here is her blurb on Amazon-

I have Rodale's herbal encyclopedia book, an herbal book from Penelope Ody(can't remember title right now), and quite a few others. I prefer to have multiple sources to see how many people say this herb does this or that, etc. Herbal remedies work so much better for me than pharmaceuticals do.

You are correct. I tried the link and whole web site and it seems to be down. Maybe just temporary.

I've ordered from Horizon Herbs before, because they're local(as in my own state of Oregon). They do have a nice selection of unusual herbs. I want to order some belladonna/mandrake/henbane seeds as a curiousity this year, but I'm not sure if I want a record of purchasing those seeds.

If they are local, what prevents you from walking in and paying cash?

I said local as in the same state, they're around 3 hours away driving time.

Due to medical conditions, we're non-mobile except when we get rides from friends/neighbors.

I am sorry to hear that. If I was not on the other side of the country I would be glad to assist, but Maryland to Oregon is a long drive even for me. :(

If work ever brings me out that way, I'll let you know!!

I use the Penelope Ody one and my husband uses the one named Modern Essentials that DoTerra uses. They are both good. I, too, like to get info from several sources. That is the best way to go.
