Tis the season. When some men's hearts turn to thoughts of the thrill of the chase.
The hunt, the chase, the adventure, the danger and finally... conquest.
    Yup. It's here...

    Storm season.

It starts young, pretty, innocent. Gives no clue as to the impending doom.

    Quickly it starts to blossom.

And before long explodes into towering curves of nature's beauty.

But beneath the beautiful facade hides a dark, potentially deadly monster.

Well... That's all I got. Yeah a thunderstorm. Only 1 inch hail this time. We were lucky.

Decided to mount a couple of my mobile units in my daily driver instead of using the ht's for the weather spotting network.

I couldn't figure out where to mount them so I built a console with materials I had laying around. It's wide enough so the seats hold it in place and long enough to still access the cup holders.
I probably need to mount a couple 8 ohm speakers so the space below the HF rig should work nicely. One inch hail is quite loud. 6eb4b695-6aa4-4917-aa95-5c09997c7ebd.
I have a similar console in the bov so I can easily move the radios when needed.

Not sure how I'm going to get dedicated power to them, so for right now the 2/440 is plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Diamond dual band mag mount antenna is on the roof.
Just finished testing it. Been a few years since I had it fired up. Had to reprogram a couple of repeater tones. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't hitting them. But the signal reports were great. Gotta love Kenwood. That radio has been through alot.

Looking forward to getting the Midland hooked up next. I've made alot of good DX contacts with it over the years. Might luck out and make some more before conditions improve.
