Just picked up the latest issue April/May, was very refreshing to see it had gone back to just Simple and Sustainable Living. 20 years ago it and HarrowSmith were the only source of Back to Nature (read:survival) Living. Slowly the magazine became radical, almost socialist in it's editorials. It's well worth looking at again.
Backwoodshome is much better than that liberal treehugging rag! May have good articles, but I cant stand all the save the world shit that goes with it. Sorry, just cranky.
you're right though.....save the world shit is exactly what it was full of. i couldn't get far enough in the magazine to read anything usefull, but i'll try it again.
That's just it, no B.S. Hell I knew things were different when I saw the full page advertisement for Natural Tobacco Cigarettes. Al Gore must have been removed from the Editorial Staff.
www.backwoodshome.com get a subscription...you will be amazed. Its very libertarian and isn't a glossy magazine that has all of the CFC type paper that doesn't burn well with all the rest of the garbage that goes in the 55 gallon burn barrel. In fact plastic bottles, bags, styrofoam, and other assorted burnables are released into their gaseous form well before the mother earth news is. Therefore, it takes less wood (a renewable resource) to burn up the man made products than it does paper. So, I release these into the atmosphere and the come down as rain, over millions and billions of years (yawn, yawn) they eventually become oil again and the cycle repeats. NOW THAT IS RECYCLING.
