The trouble and dying did not bother me so much as I'm a Christian being heaven bound, and taking some one else's life weighed heavy on me.
In later years I got into SAR and saved lives. seems that's a better use of a life. I don't condemn any one having gone to war. Men dad killed in war haunted him forever.
In war soldiers are programmed to think the enemy is vermin, when in reality, they don't want to be there any more than you do, and likely taught to think of you the same.

 

Not all us vets went to war. I like to tell folks my ten years service was "between wars". One of my main reasons of serving was to earn my GI Bill which I used eventually to start my IT career.

 

I've known guys who killed in wartime and it didn't bother 'em a bit, and guys like my uncle that killed in Vietnam, won't talk about it, has nightmares and still sees a VA psychologist to this day.
Knew an Inmate at the prison I worked at that beat an 86 year old man to death with a telephone for $40, stayed and made supper in the guys house and ate before he left. I guess people place different values on human life.

 

Programmed Obsolescence. They want you to come back in five years and buy a new one. Same with cars these days.

 

A good many of them don't make it to 5 yrs .

 

One of them throws like a girl.

 

My son and his friend found a 1954 International harvester refrigerator in an old cabin. Fell through the floor sitting on dirt brought it home plugged it in still working. They keep drinks in it at their work shop.

 

And the other IS a girl.

 

And one of them literally got away with murder.

 

When That Woman was a teenager she had a black dwarf rabbit as a pet. First time it saw me, it hopped all the way across the living room and bit me.
