I have a greenhouse and raise things using hydroponics. If you use the commercial nutrients, you get ok plants. But as in mass production agriculture, you do not get all the micro elements. I also use fish emulsion and seaweed base additives. Costs money and big ag doesn't do it, but I am at least giving a full balanced product a fighting chance, I know that in my mind. I get a healthier and greener plant than those that use the "commercial plant food". The old way using natural fertilizers on rotated crop lands recycled the micro nutrients. Worked for a few million years, tend to trust that over some college grad research project and either producing the employers desired result, or go look for another job. Present research system stinks. Don't even want to get into the composition of the seed being determined by resistance to weeds and maximum yield. Or the use of chemicals to meet every desired outcome. Almost all research is dependent on finding or creating some product that can be patented or copy righted. Then with a lock on production, you can set your own price. Best example of that is supermarkets have about a 2 % profit rate on a massive turnover and a large fixed capital base in a system that has competition. Apple with its trademark etc, has a gross profit in 2025 of over 45 %

 

Mass production of food via chemicals, modifies seed, is the only way to feed 6+ billion soon to be 9 billion on this finite planet--- Sad but true

 

It seems the more liberal a state is, the higher it's minimum wage, but also strangely, the higher it's unemployment rate!
