Is the scale thing why politicians never take their shirts off in public?

 

Here I try not to get close enough to be examining eyes/scales and (rightly) assume most that are not an obvious python are venomous (only the toxicity varies). The VAST majority of snakes I encounter in the wild (and my own backyard - literally, down near the clothesline) are well up the list of "do not wish to be bitten by" same as three of the 4 most common spiders here around the house. I worry more about my dogs with snakes however than I do about myself.
