Highest point in new england and specifically in New Hampshire is Mt. Washington at 6288 and short change feet ASL. Cold up there, too. Winter weight coat in July wasn't quite enough in the wind. (The trip up in October was a mite chillier in the snow ---)

Does it still have the tiny glacier? While not a high peak by western standards it shouldn't be underestimated especially in winter.

Mount Rainier is seen everywhere I go in the region on a clear day..... 14,411 ft. ASL
It literally looms over my backyard..... Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, and it is on the Decade Volcano list.

And to our North, Mount Baker at 10,781 ft ASL One of the snowiest places in the world with the world record for single season snowfall at 1,140 inches.

And Mount St. Helens sits just to the South of Rainier.....at 8,363 ft ASL......what is left of her of course. ;)

Mt Hood from Nutlandia, a mere 11,245', the timberline is about 6,000' so a vertical mile of white. Not a tough climb at the right time of the year - it was once done in high heels.

Many Cascade mountains start near sea level like Rainier, so while they aren't as tall as many in the Rockies they are bigger and tougher to climb. No where near the class Alaskan mountains are in, however.

14,411' Mt Rainier from Nutattle :

And my personal favorite, the frequently overlooked and nearly as massive 12,281' Mt Adams:

The famous Mt Saint Helens, whose height changes almost daily. I had planned to climb this mountain in June the year she blew her top:

14,179' Mt Shasta, complete with underground lake and city filled with aliens:

And finally my once favorite playground - Oregon's Three Sisters, with Broken Top in the lower right. Now the only times I go are in late summer/early fall weekdays to avoid the crowds and wind up taking out a LOT of trash each time.:

These are why it's taken me so long to finally decide to bail on the PNW.

No idea about the glacier, but Tuckerman's Ravine doesn't thaw until August. It was around 20 years ago I was up there. The observatory at the top is essentially inaccessible in the winter, they snow cat crews up for a week at a time Wx permitting.

For comparison, our Mt Washington, just a hair under 8,800'. :

Viewed from the direction of our state capital it looks like it's giving them the finger.

Rainier had some pretty good commercials back in the day.

The commercials were better than the beer. (I lived in Longview for a while, then in Richland.)
Drove up Mt. St. H a ways well before she blew. Spirit Lake was very pretty. Climbed part way up Rainier before the kids got tired of throwing snowballs at Paradise.

Yup was born in Yakima, went to school there. Maybe I'm low brow but I didn't mind the raindogs if they were cold enough.
