Interesting, I've never heard of a featherboard but it would help with what I cut, which is 5" long blocks into 3/8" wide handle material.
Today is the last day with the splint! As of tomorrow I can use it normally, but it won't bend and it's still crooked as the tendon did not grow back. Still I plan to ride my Valk and get back to knifemaking!
For what you are doing a featherboard is a must, even then you need to be careful of kickbacks. However, at least if it happens you'll just end up with a piece of wood in your face or chest, certainly better than loosing body parts. A crooked finger has it's place
