    @pearlselby --I am not able to identify it, but here's some info on beneficial weeds that may prove useful. One way to help ID a plant is to allow it to mature and if it flowers you can use that to quickly ID the plant.

    Some weeds are actually good. Here's a list of beneficial weeds and a weed chart for reference.

    It almost looks like a sage but the leaves are too smooth. I agree with @Brokor and let it flower.

    @Ganado @ditch witch any idea?

    I agree with Brokor...and Motomom.....flowers should help make the plant easier to identify.....but if it is an unwelcome nuisance at your place....FGS don't let it seed. One year's seedin' means 7 years weedin' so the sayin' goes. ;) The seeds may also help identify the plant.

    I doubt the plant is Creeping Charlie..... the leaf shapes are significantly different to the image in the OP. ecological gardening: Creeping Charlie Love. [IMG]

    I was originally going to say sorrel of some kind but it appears to be to 'branchy' for that sorrel tends to be a clump.

    It could be lambs quarters. but I cant tell from the pics

    Thanks everyone for the input. I am still going thru weed sites trying to pinpoint it.
    It really does look like sage or lamb quarters. The leaves feel soft and the plant seems to go in all directions like the first pic by the water tank. It has popped up all over the garden. I dug some up out of the garden and put in little pots in the shop to wait and see what happens with blooms. I am keeping them away from the greenhouse.
    Thanks @chelloveck @Ganado @Brokor @Motomom34. As soon as I identify it, I will let you all know.

    Thanks again everyone!!

    You know you can eat night shade berries when they ripen up but not green.

    I would say for liability reasons- people know what you are doing in regards to nightshade. Have an expert help you identify and yes, there is the debate of toxic, not toxic.

    What's this flowering plant? I have not been able to track it down. Grows alongside ALL the dirt roads in this area.

    ...But it is a pretty purple and alongside the road. I must get bonus points for that at least, no?

    My 1st guess was also phlox. Down here in Florida there are tons of phlox and black eye susans growing along our country roads
