Good little unit to try as a proctor for your normal one. Second Opinion never hurt Top right hand coner free online scan button.
Spybot doesn't like it. Panda wants to change a registry item. Which means I probably don't like it - dang I hate having to think really hard on a Sunday evening. Ah well nevermind. It ran through it's cycle and found absolutely nothing. Maybe I am overcautious but I've come to the point where I don't trust anything and delete just about everything as well rather than open it (or download it). But this time seems to have been okay - at least according to all my software programs.
Also, Spybot and ad-aware are just doing there job in preventing changes... they don't know it for the Systems good
I like this one better, because you can download a free edition; Free AVG antivirus software Just look toward the bottom of the page.
Quig, I figured you were pointing out a free version of Panda's antivirus too. I tried using Panda's version once, but didn't like it compared to Norton's Internet Security. It seemed kinda funky with it's setup to me. I downloaded the free AVG version to the laptop since it only came with a 60 day Norton's update version.
Panda won't run on Netscape. Rats. Only on IE, which I have learned to distrust over the years.
I just picked up something in my desktop. Some kind of computer VD. It restarts my computer after about 15 minutes. Before the McAfee, Panda or AVG can get through scanning, it restarts.
Set up AVG for user test, and include the desktop with the basic OS as a first try. That will shorten the scan time. Repeat on other parts of the system as you can sqeeze in before the reboot timer elapses. Had one like that a year or so ago that corrupted sys32 files. Wish I could remember the exact location, but it took a while to tie it down.
Thanks Ghrit, I kind of thought I would have to battle this section by section, I am just running out of time tonight.
Shut down, re-boot in safe mode, then open the virus scan and scan, then delete or quarantine then shut down re- boot in normal and go online for removal instructions.
