I'm having a hard time finding 55 and 15 gallon water grade drums locally on Craigslist and online is about $100 including shipping.

Anyone have any ideas on how to find local people selling new or used drums? Like a key word for the type of business or certain companies that might have them used like a soft drink company, can't find one of those locally.

Has anyone ever ordered from a company that makes the barrels and get them for a better price?

Does anyone know of a cheaper place online including shipping? 1st preference is new but used will work depending on what it used to hold.

You do not say where you are... if you are in snow country then just about ANY airport will have Aircraft Deiceing fluid that comes in FoodGrade Plastic Tanks.

I get mine at a local feed store that stocks them for customers. They are used once to haul orange juice.
    .
If you have a local soda distributor (pepsi, coke, or other), they get syrup in 55 gallon blue or white plastic food grade barrels. I have been told they will give them away or sell cheap.

Soda and beer bottling companies sometimes sell their excess food grade barrels. Do an internet search as well. There is a company here in Texas, relatively local to me, that sells them commercially (refurbished and new, certified) for a decent price. Just do some searching.

Several places near me have them--just east of Charlotte, NC. If you are local then holler and will pass on the locations. I have a dozen 20s and a few 55s filled with goodies. Lots of 5s and a few 3s plus several cases of one gallon jars. I have a few large mouth one gallon jars left if anyone would like a few.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about feed stores, I'll have to start looking around more and see what I can find.

I live around OH so the airports might have deicing barrels, I'm guessing it's a salt solution or something.

Does anyone have an idea how long drum liners like the ones below will last? I do have easy access to non food grade barrels, one option might be to use a drum liner.

Not salt, but BioDegradable Antifreeze... similar to the stuff you buy for use in RV Water systems.....

Much easier and cost effective to buy locally. If you live in or near farm country, just ask. Most farmers will either let you have some or sell them to you for a song. Same goes for the large caged containers.
