I've been living with a Harbor Freight $100 crappy bandsaw for 3 1/2 years - I've even tailored my knifemaking so I don't have to use it by buying steel the exact width I need and using a chop saw to part the knives. But the stars aligned, a sale was on that gave me $750 off this behemoth and free truck delivery. I thought "Hmmm I might have to get this" and then Thursday I get another email from Enco that everything was 10% off for 2 days. So I applied that to the saw, got another $180 off, and ordered it. It arrived yesterday - 760lbs of crated goodness! That green POS in the back left is the Harbor Freight saw: Uh-oh! A borad flew off and got me - all four nails hit me but one punctured and it hurt! The last mark on the left is the puncture Now to get it off those pallets! Two guys came over and we got it off the pallets and where I wanted it Now to wire it up to a 220 outlet! Woohoo - it has a blade welder too so I can make my own!
Great Don, congratulations on the new saw! I guess I'll get off my duff and order a new knife to help you pay for it; how about a fighter with a linen micarta handle in dark shades with a sharpened false edge? Something that will slip through ribs easy as slitting a neck and not slip out of your drippy fingers...must be the blood in the pictures you posted, but you get the idea...LOL
You got it! I have 4 fighters coming back from Paul Bos soooon and I'll look for some linen micarta. I like to sandblast the handles and it looks great with the brown micarta I've been using.
Valkman, didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with sharp pointy nails? They can HURT! lol...That equipment is looking good.
Well, like an idiot I bought a 220 receptacle and plug at Lowe's in Vegas but didn't actually put them together and last night I find they don't match up. Argh! Hopefully it'll be wired up today and I can lop off an arm or something.
With times being the way they are, if you chop anything off, you can sell it on the human organ blackmarket...probably cover any "replacement parts" for a new finger, arm, leg
Got it running tonight, even welded up a blade and tried it out. Sweet! The weld held but got stuck while cutting so I ground some more off of it and no more problems. Now to see how long it lasts!
Controls the auto mini-gun, flood lights and lets the dogs loose. I wish. Yea, it's to water the trees.
