    Finally got some steel in !!!

    I modified a suggestion by Brokor for a blade. Mine is a little more Bowie-ish and a little longer (bout 8.5 inches), the balance is perfect.

    THAT...

    IS ABSOLUTELY....

    AWESOME!!! [beer]

    Can I buy one from ya? huh, huh? Can I??? 'course I will have to make a dep. in my bank again before I close the acct...oh hell. I might as well send you a money order. Let me know via PM. :D And it's not too heavy, is it? If it is you could always lighten her up with some holes in the handle...I am a light framed guy. I will trust your judgement, though.

    Man, that's beautiful!

    Very Nice!.....
    You probably already answered this somewhere else.... but what kind of grinder are you grinding these on?..... it looks terrific!

    Brokor, it's made from 3/16 steel so it's not very heavy, the balance point is right at the front of the forefinger cutout. Punching the handle full of holes will change the balance radically but I can do it if you want it that way :)

    Bear, I'm using a tiny little 1 X 30 inch belt grinder with a 1/3 horse motor b::

    I can't afford anything better just yet

    That is Great! Might make a good entry in the SM survival knife idea

    I'd take the grind higher but you're doing very well, especially on a 1x30. That must be hell grinding on that - and take forever!

    Fine job!

    Actually, it is higher, now ... in that pic there was about 1/8 steel left at the edge

    Thanks for all the nice comments. Other than the height of the grind would anyone change anything else ?

    Yeah, it's missing one of those boxes to go in that they normally ship in when being delivered to Brokor. :D

    Done

    The knife is wrapped with two layers of cord, the inner one is a waxed nylon trotline, the outer one is a thin 550 type cord (commercial) from Wally World. The real 550 cord I have is to big around.
