It's a java based offsite chat server. Not secure but it's fast and fun. Use the Chat button at the top off the site!! http://client0.sigmachat.com/sc.pl?id=110001
[scroll:b4904db6b5]We just upgraded it also . In [fade:b4904db6b5]24 hours[/fade:b4904db6b5] it should be even more [glow=blue:b4904db6b5]'full featured' [/glow:b4904db6b5][/scroll:b4904db6b5]
When I click on the link it just shows a screen with Survival Monkey at the top and a grey screen with no buttons or message box or anything. Is it just because theres noone else there or since Im on windows 98?
Quig, we may need a Java primer here....... I know you need to have the latest free version of java try this: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp
98 should have java.at least 98SE did if i remember right First time in to a java chat will take a long time to load, you might try and wait a while and see if it loads, after the first time its doesn’t take long at all. If not then download the java freeware melbo posted.
You also may have to reconfigure any pop up or security/virus software. I have mine set to block everything, good and bad. I had to unload a few things to get this to work myself
Got it to working, it just took a couple hours for the dinosaur to download the update, and it was only like 15 mb. lol
We'll have to try it out later. I bet Quig will almost always have a Chat window open if he's online. He's the Chat King!
XP SP2 on dialup. Loaded in about 10 seonds on the first try. Looks like it might work OK. The embedded chat on SM is a bit slow to refresh, but worked, so it is still a fall back. This new one opens in a new window, so you can leave it open incase someone checks in while you are meddling in another forum. Looks a good idea. I had Java on 95, 98, 98SE and now on XP. As I remember, 95 and 98 required a download to initiate any java apps. It was on board on 98SE and XP. IIRC.
thanks melbo...It was like old times..only way better!!! Hmmm...Wednesday night...Ladies night? Drink specials???
