So, you willfully ignore the fact that we live in a tyrannous dictatorship run by an oligarchic corporate cartel and firmly believe your honesty and good nature will somehow cure the corruption one planted tree at a time?

I commend you for being a good man, but Kellory...wake up, man.

I only read about 2/3 of it (yes, I actually read 2/3 of it) but it was a fist fight after the second or third section. The biggest thing that struck me was the...reactionary bent to it. Unlike the original Constitution, this thing is OBVIOUSLY a sign of its time. While it's obvious that the original Constitution wasn't written yesterday, taking the olde spellings and odd turn of phrase out make tho original very relevant to any time in history since.

This is...is pandering the right word? It's, again, obvious that it's recent and directly addresses some things that don't need to be (and will eventually bite them in the butt).

Hell, it's even got a misspelling in it. How do you spend years on a document to REPLACE the Constitution and have misspellings?

This, I admit, would be the last straw.

I read the Hunger Games trilogy and found it a set of books worth recommending.. as they at least suggested that a representative style of governance was what would be best. Add in the picture of stark poverty of the outlaying areas as compared to the capital, and one would get a true look at life under socialism... Nothing drives it home as the ability of a government to strip a community of it's children for sport.. Set me of mind of Agenda 21..

Parts of Agenda 21 are slowly being implemented now. The diversion of Federal Construction and infrastructure Funds being funneled into inner cities are pulling the Population out of the suburbs and closer in.
BLM is siezing land or in the process of, and EPA is dogging citizens.
If you take a look at the Map of Agenda 21 areas there is a very suspicious correlation with the Fed. movement in those very areas mentioned. This ties in directly with the topic being discussed here.
Arizona and Texas are Major targets of the BLM now, so far!
There's not much of a fight being waged in Liberal States but their having a heck of a time in the Conservative ones.

Some of the craziest stuff happening today has had the same thing said about it as well!
Who would have thought Gay Marriage would have become legal, or abortion at the rate of over a million a year, Legalized Marijuana, Wide Open Borders, all agenda's of the Left that they managed to ram through.
    Truth is stranger than fiction!

Hey now, the Libertarians and many others have supported legalization of marijuana, or the decriminalization of its use for medical and personal reasons. The fact is, the Federal Gov't made this natural plant illegal, destroyed the hemp industry, and pushed it to the number one spot on the "Evil" controlled substances list, all for profit. Now, we have plenty of old timers who STILL fully support an abusive government and firmly believe the propaganda they have been fed all their lives about marijuana being a gateway drug, that they SUPPORT corporate control and criminalizing our citizenry, all to further enrich the prison industry, which by the way is massive. Yeah, so tell me how making marijuana no longer illegal is a "Liberal" policy? ;)

Indeed, my good man. Rarely is it anything else.

I was a Pot-Head for many years of my life, the one thing I can say, truthfully is, after I quit for a year and then tried it again, I was paranoid as hell and would not want my Doctor, Dentist, etc.... High, when they are working on me!![OO]
I am not Judging any of these things, simply stating that I personally don't agree with them and never thought they would be found socially acceptable, Ever!

@Gopherman yes, the thought of folks walking around stoned all the time may seem like it would be terrible, but that's just an alarmists perspective. The goal of legalizing marijuana would be to de-criminalize it, freeing up prisons and not turning citizens into criminals, and removing much of the strong arm abuse of authority of the police state AND removing the profiteering by greedy government corporate types and their lobbyists.

There's plenty of money to be made through licensing and regulating marijuana anyway. I see it as a really sensible compromise.

But yeah, this topic of a "new" Constitution is ridiculous. Sorry to derail a bit.

This Threat is very real, regardless of what some may think!
We have seen such an abuse of Authority by Presidential decree over the past 20 years, spanning both parties, that we need to be watchful of false flag events, that could trigger a police action, opening the door for something like this!
I thought the Arizona thing was gonna be it and very well could have sparked it off, had they not stood down.
As for the Marijuana Legalization, decriminalizing it is a bad Idea! There are so many people out there that already don't want to work, and Pot does kill motivation in a person.
It is a Gateway Drug, in the sense of, once you can get past the paranoia of doing one illegal thing it becomes easier to do others.

@Gopherman In order to do this, they would need to hold a Constitutional Convention of epic proportions and somehow convince everybody to accept it. Now, on top of all this, we will undoubtedly have millions of gun owners and patriots who won't accept these radical changes and lots of government types on our side as well.

It would be a mistake on their part to try it. Pray they are this stupid.

First step is to dis-arm the public, their trying real hard to do that right now! It may take a while or a major event, but the public at large has shown its willingness to sacrifice freedom for "Security".
Another 9/11 style scenario and BINGO, look at how many rights to privacy and freedom were surrendered after that!

Yes, long term...with incremental change, yes I can see many things happening. But, I would place this right up there with all out gun confiscations. Sure, gun confiscations have happened before, Katrina is proof of that. But, nation-wide? Nah. Another 911 event, who knows? Maybe.

This has been thought of before, with numerous plans on the .Gov part to keep continuity in case of civil unrest and disasters. How would such an operation ever be carried out? There aren't enough gestapo agents in existence, nor foreign troops to successfully stay alive long enough to carry out a nation wide confiscation. It would have to be incremental...one state or two states at a time. And so we have seen shootings, we see the media hype, and the panic mode starts, before the people can unite, laws are passed and folks are living in CONNECTICUT suddenly with draconian gun laws. Yeah, the incremental method *could* work. But, it will take a very long time to get gun confiscations going in all 50 states.

And so, the Constitution alterations and the proposed overhaul in this thread is the same level of radical change. Is it likely? No. But, is it even possible? Maybe.

Really not trying to be a dick here (although it has been known to happen unintentionally), but why the furor over something that was proposed in a book 40 years ago, based on the even earlier proposals of an advisor to FDR? In order for it to be implemented, the entire structure of the nation would have to be scrapped. It would require all fifty states to allow themselves to be dissolved and restructured into the "Newstates", scrap the existing branches of government in favor of his SIX new branches (which would put ALL power into the Federal government's control, and assumes that the citizenry would meekly turn a blind eye to the machinations as it happens.

Personally, I'm not going to spend any time getting worked up over this. I'm more concerned about what trees I'm going to work into my backyard orchard. ;)

Becauuuse, there has never been a time in my life when it looked like this was even possible. Now it does, Obamacare changed life as we know it in one fell swoop, and that document is way bigger and more complicated than this one!
Most other countries that have socialized medicine have been considering switching to the way we used to do it, now these idiots are implementing their failed plan and acting like it's the next best thing to SM.:)
Since that point, as well as all the NSA, CIA,FBI......and all those other dirty little 3 letter Orgs. I have begun to believe that the impossible is possible!
