THis one almost got me as I once did have a restricted account after I forgot my Pass.... If you are ever unsure of an Ebay or PP email, Forward, the email to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. I got this within minutes:
Yup I got that and sent it on to them. I never reply to e-mails from e-bay or Paypal I have my accounts set not to receive them. Instead I go to my message center on e-bay for my messages.
Got one of those today. lwpelectronics supposedly received my order for a cell phone. Any one that knows me is well aware of just exactly how badly I don't like phones, cell or otherwise, at least most of the time. Anyway, I did the "right thing" forwarded it to paypal, and got a polite response that it wasn't their doing. Then, I did a google on lwpelectronics, and it seems that it is a well known phishing scam. Sure am glad I didn't get huffy and respond to the e-mail. So, in case anyone else ever sees it, here's what I got.
One thing to remember, is that Ebay and PayPal will always address the member by "Their First and Last Name." The phishing emails and scams always address the recipient as "Dear blah blah member." If you login to either site, make sure that the address has "https:xxxxx" as the "S" is for a secure, and encrypted site. You should also see the lock in the closed position for the secure site down above the system tray as well.
