Hello all, Took some time away due to some life changes, kept an eye on some of the threads while away. During my time away we moved from the city of Memphis to the next county over and in country (no city ordinances to deal with). Only a little 2 acre home, but in the last 1.5 years we've planted 45 fruit and nut trees, started a garden, increased by chicken flock from 3 to 27 layers (currently have 6 birds ready to graduate to the freezer), and I'm currently working starting to build a detached garage/shop for my woodworking. Last year for my B-day picked up a small Kubota tractor (BX2370) for mowing and to help with our hunting property maintenance (bush hogging, box blade). My kids are growing up fast and they are doing much better in the county school than in the big city school they were in. Taking time with the kids on raising animals and working in the garden, doing whatever we can to keep them off of the electronic devices. Looking forward to getting back into the Monkey tree!
Welcome back. That's acreage enough to be self sufficient with. More power to you and your family in living the rural lifestyle.
Good to have you back! Sounds like you've been making some changes for the good...may your hard work pay off handsomely.
Glad to see you back @kckndrgn. Sounds as though you've kept busy. Congrats on the move. It's nice being out where you can hear crickets instead of traffic huh? Looking forward to hearing about what all you've done!
Pecan mostly, but some Chestnut hybrids and hazel nut. Also Pear, 2 types of apple (honeycrisp and red delicious), Peaches and Plums Yeah, we build a fire pit in the back yard, we love going out with a few drinks and sitting by the fire.
