Police say the cop shot and and killed a suspect who allegedly tried to rob his wife and daughter. It happened inside 314 East 201st Street in Bedford Park just after 11:30 Saturday night. Authorities say a 30-year old woman and her 3-year old daughter were followed into an elevator where the suspect grabbed them and pulled out a gun. PHOTO: NYPD says this was suspect's weapon recovered near the scene. The woman screamed and her husband, the off-duty officer, ran to her aid. A witness says he heard him identify himself as a policeman. Shots were fired and the suspect was hit. Police say he fled the scene, but was arrested a short distance away.
