That is one Oath, that I took on, when I was sworn in as a Federal Agent... and I was not relieved of that Oath, when I left.... I still keep that Oath, to the letter, as is my way. It is a matter of Personal Integrity, in my eyes, and belief. I did NOT Swear to defend any one Person, or any one Office, I swore to Defend the Constitution, as amended, and that is what I will do. ..... YMMV....
I've taken this oath 3 times now.... It never fails, someone is always trying to change it's meaning!
I have taken this oath, and just like BTPost, have never been released from it. Nor do I wish to be released. I swore to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same". Not much room in that oath for global governance.
I took that oath when I joined the Navy. I took the oath again as a law enforcement chaplain in the state of Alabama. I still stand by it.
That is how I, personally, take Oaths..... They are my Personal Bond, until Death, or Revocation, by both parties, involved......
