    Oh Mittens....what were you thinking?.....Employing an openly gay man as a key foreign policy advisor on your election campaign team? Did you not realise that your conservative cred would plummet? Did you not realise that the religious right would beat you to death with:

    Did you not realise that Mr Richard Grenell would have to fall on his sword to make sure that his continued presence in your team was not a continuing distraction, and an achilles heel to be exploited by your more religiose opponents?

    I know that you mean well, and want to reassure moderates that you have their interests at heart and that you will represent all Americans...not just straight, conservative god frearin' folk. Ah...well....It could have been worse....you could have appointed an avowed atheist as your campaign chaplain. In case you take up my splendid suggestion...I am available...just text me! ; )

    Its tough because some groups doesn't like another ones for one reason or another(often no reason). Like religous nuts dont like gays, some whites don't like blacks, some religous nuts don't have any tolerance for others that dont believe in the same faith. Hmm i think there is a pattern here haha. Also between dem and rep they can't agree on anything either just because of the political party they are affiliated with and not on individual issues at hand.

    Sure, Grenell left the campaign for personal reasons...

    Sure, Grenell claims that he resigned his position for personal reasons... but it is more likely that he was quietly asked to "take one for the team". I shouldn't be surprised if he is suitably rewarded for his self secrifice...An Ambassadorship to Canberra is the usual sinecure for loyalty above and beyond the call of duty, if past experience is anything to go by...it would be a plum job...Sydney has the best G&L mardi gras in the Southern Hemisphere! : O

    In politics it's difficult being your own man or woman. Often political candidates are held hostage to the interest groups that wield influence, power, and bags and bags of campaigning money and other resources in helping them in their bid for office. Ignoring backer's interests for those who's ability to get one elected is only marginal, is political suicide...

    The rather crude coersion of Romney to cut Grennel loose is rather silly and very short sighted of the religious right and other conservative interest groups...Mittens isn't going to win just on the basis of Republican Party votes alone...he has to win to the Republican side some of the middle ground and some of the democrat's traditional constituency, to get over the line.

    By being seen as turning to water when the religious right starts harrumphing over gays....I can't see that he will convince many moderate liberals that he has much to offer them in the way of being interested in addressing their concerns. Being perceived to have a spine about as firm as a jellyfish will probably only serve to give Obama a better chance at becoming a second term socialist, collectivist creator of conservative anguish and impotent rage! : O

    Does the US Constitution address homosexualality? I think not. Have fudge packers been around that long? Yup. and long long before. Does it bother me in the least? No!

    Contrary to the beliefs of some, Gays are no threat to me, nor me to them. I just don't care.

    it does suck that people cant be themselves because of hidden political agendas. You are right, if they keep wishy washing on issues to make everyone happy, it then makes it look like they cant make up their mind or that they are not trustworthy. Just as John Kerry.

    I believe being gay is wrong, Every society in history that has embraced the culture has been destroyed by it. While i disagree with the lifestyle as a Christian I Love the people. It's a basic commandment to hate the sin love the sinner. I have friends and close family (sister) that are gay so doubt doubt me for a sec when i say i love the people. While i would like to agree with tacmotusn that they don't bother me i will say that allot of Gays are quick to say that Christians hate them simply because we call them sinners. Even Christians are sinners (everyone is) It's the fact that we try to overcome it that separates us. If you choose that lifestyle fine, please don't try and take Christian traditions like marriage and pollute it with your twist.

    The Man Romney had on his staff doesn't bother me, nor does having a Gay spokesperson for JCPenny. Whatever floats your boat, just don't try to inforce Gay policy on the rest of us.

    Just have to say (I'm straight and married btw) that in my expeience gay people throw the best parties. Nothin kinky either just really creative and fun evets! I love being friends with gay guys!

    Maybe I should further expound on this. I believe in individual rights. I can respect that of many peoples who for one reason or another I don't agree with. Only those who try to force their beliefs on me without my cooporation do I take issue with. Tolerance is easy, you do your thing, I will do mine. Don't try to force me to be you, nor will I try to force you to be me. Radicals who call for the injury or death of those who do not agree with them are the worst. I consider myself to be a "Passive Radical". I will not impose my will on others, that is the passive part. Try to force your will on me, I will respond like a beserker, that is the radical part.

    If I were a woman, I would be gay because dudes are gross. But, only if my life partner looked like a hot chick...not James Spader...or is it K.D. Lang? It's odd to me that a lesbian would choose a female that has masculine features and looks like a perpetual adolescent boy in an 80s movie. Same with gay men...they (in general) like other gay men who are effeminate.

    I think homosexuality is a genetic mutation, not a choice. So, unless someone has a mental issue about it, I don't see any reason why they couldn't carry out their job (if they were good at it).

Also with everyone saying that being gay is a sin and doesnt want gays stuffing their beliefs down our throats.....what gives christians and other religous groups the rights to stuff their beleifs down the gays peoples throats. Have to love double standards :)

    Pretty sure you missed the point where i pointed out that we are all sinners. It's a choice to be a christian just like it's a choice to be gay. Like i said most true Christians that believe and follow Gods word and Jesus teaching believe in tolerance. It's not until we are cornered and forced to obey a law against Gods will that you we see push back. Paul taught in Romans 8 to be submissive to authority of your government. If you can't even obey mans laws how are you suppose to obey God's laws. However if those laws go against the teaching of Jesus and God we are to follow Him.

    Again i have no problem with Gays personally, the sin I detest just as I detest adultery, obesity , murders, rapist ect. In the Eyes of God the person that lies is the same as the person that kills someone or sleeps with a same sex partner, it's all the same to him. I'm a sinner along with everyone else on earth. I accept that, asked for forgiveness and do my best to follow Gods will, Still i sin daily.

    I am not going to pass judgement on anyone, Sin is sin though.

    It doesn't really matter (at least not here.) Mittens now looks very weak and indecisive.

    But seriously...what does this guy's homosexuality have to do with his ability to hold the job? This looks like he got railroaded for something that doesn't really effect his ability to do his job. Ditching someone who makes a mess of the campaign is understandable; ditching someone for something that doesn't effect their job is the act of a complete swine.

    Besides, call me a cynic, but if this homosexual is faithful to his partner he's certainly one step up on several inhabitants of the White House.

    What I don't really grok is why this is such a concern in the first place. Do you really want to give the government the power to regulate your personal life so intimately?

    well said jason. I think the media only shows the bible huggers that have no tolerance. You on the other hand seem to have a good head on your shoulders and accept people for who they are. i think a lot of the bibles teachings get lost in translation and other groups own personal goals

    I think this is the fundamental difference in people's viewpoints.

    I did not make a choice to be straight...to be attracted to women--really! Why do I find large globes of fat apealling...or curvaceous hips as opposed to none? My lizard brain does that--I can't tell it otherwise. Therefore...and given the fact that gays seem to display physical characteristics and mannerisms of the opposite sex, I have to conclude that being gay is not a choice, but a birth defect/genetic mutation (or else it would've been taken care of through Natural Selection (I realize it's just a theory to Christians, but if you can't logically see the way genes get passed on in nature is "natural selection," then we can't discuss the issue further.)

    LoL If I suddenly turned into a Woman I'd hope to hell I was a HOT One!!! An it'd be YEARS before I ever left my own Bedroom!! :D


    Right now NC has a Marriage is Only between a Woman & a Man amendment up on the Primaries ballot. I voted against it. Not because I'm Pro Gay or anything. An no, not gay myself. I prefer girls but I'm more Monklike than any Catholic Priest!! I don't care if yer gay, straight, bisexual, asexual, trisexual, black, white, pink with purple polkadots or bang sheep, as long as the sheep consents, Your sex life is your own & none but your partner's, or lack of, business.

    I voted against the Marriage Amendment because I believe once you open the door to denying ANY GROUP the same exact rights you yourself have, you set a PRECEDENT for in the future being denied YOUR rights when you are not in the Majority!!!

    Hows that saying go?

    Tell The Government & Uncle Sam to sit on the top of a flagpole & spin!!! No Rights should be TAKEN from ANY GROUP OF PEOPLE at the behest of another Group Of People!!!!!!

    Unless you agree we oughta do what the Gun Grabbers wish as well!

    The big problem with him being Gay is he is a Republican. Black Republicans get the same treatment. Obviously in our society, conservative women may be insulted, vilified, embarrassed, slandered etc in any fashion one chooses; if the on doing the slandering is a Liberal. Even the "President" using sexual phrases to insult others; again if he is a liberal democrat.

    I don't care what anyone is as long as they don't have this burning desire to tell me. Just be another honest and decent human being and we will get along fine.

    However, do not expect me to change a definition which has existed for thousands of years just because you arrived. I believe the civil union was the Catholic description for being married outside the church. ??

    In ancient societies where guys had a boyfriend; the marriage was between a man and a woman. They were the Spartans and others..

    So that is about it.

    Seriously, why are we so concerned about what others do. We just need to be the best example of human kind that we can possibly be. Allow others to pursue their own happiness, liberty and life.

    As long as someone doesn't infringe on my rights I'm not gonna have to fight them. See my previous statement about picking a fight with old guys.

    You don't have to like gays, lesbians, straight, black, white, green nor brown. You just can't fear them. Everyone is unique just like everyone else.

    And that's when the DOJ and ACLU come after you for a civil rights violation.

    Just accept that everyone is different and move on.

    If it's a choice, then people (who think it is wrong) think you can make a different choice ("why can't you just be 'straight'?").

    If it's not a choice--that's the way you're wired--then you can't really fault someone for the way they were born. Accept it and move on.

    I couldn't suddenly make a choice to be gay no more than a gay person can choose to be straight. I was born this way. I have no issues with gay people...I work with a bunch of them.
